TOM FORD GUCCI CIRCA 1996
We can't think of a better way to say "Modern American Icon" than in this show stopping gown. After all, this Tom for Gucci is already part of the Met Costume collection. Simply put– there's no going wrong with this iconic American design. To note: Tom Ford is launching womenswear under the Tom Ford label. A potential bonus? THIERRY MUGLER CIRCA 1986
Ok, we know Mugler isn't technically an American designer, but we do have a New York connection to this stunner of a gown. This Goddess style Mugler is too good for words or photographs. The interior is corseted, the back is draped, the skirt is sheer and the look is fabulous. To note: This gown was optioned for Sex and the City 2– wear it before its on screen cameo to score extra courant style points.
JEAN PAUL GAULTIER CIRCA 1987
The fact that i literally don't know what to type to express the sheer amazingess of even being in the presence of a signature JPG gown says it all. The New York connection? Madonna, of course! This gown lived up to our wildest dreams in person.. and more. To note: this iconic piece of fashion history was also optioned for SATC2.
